Why and how do our radon mitigation systems work?
 
The radon mitigation systems that we install are designed to create a vacuum under the foundation of the home and vent the radon gas out of the home BEFORE it has a chance to enter your home.

What are the most common radon mitigation systems?
​
The most popular system that we install is called a sub slab depressurization system. The set up and installation is quick and easy, usually taking between 2 and 4 hours to complete. 
 
Installation commonly begins with a single 3” inch hole suction line placed into the concrete floor in the basement. This is attached to a fan located on the outside of your home. The fan will suck out air under the foundation. This creates a vacuum under your home’s foundation, pulling the radon gas out and vent it outside into the atmosphere.
 
 
What if I have a sump pump in my home?
 
A common system we install is the sump pump depressurization system. This system also uses a fan, installed outside the home, to create a vacuum to pull the radon gas from under the home. When we come across a home with a sump pump in the basement, we can use it to our advantage. The suction line is connected to the lid of the sump pump tub which helps create an easy flow of air using the drainage lines that run under the home.

I have a large crawlspace. Will that be a problem?
 
In the rare event that a crawlspace will hinder the operation of a system’s effectiveness, a lining must be placed down.  We go in and clean out the space from debris and line it with a vinyl liner. We glue the liner to the cement block around the walls to create a complete seal from the ground. In some cases, a suction line may also need to be
placed under the liner, though this is not usually the case.
